Terms of Use
The short version: Use MealMob to cook together, not to cause problems. Be honest with your account, respect your group members, and don't do anything illegal or harmful. The full details are below.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and MealMob ("MealMob," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the MealMob website, web application, mobile application, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using MealMob on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
MealMob is a group meal planning and preparation coordination platform. The Service allows users to:
- Create and join group cooking sessions ("mobs").
- Input food cravings and preferences individually or as a group.
- Receive AI-powered recipe suggestions based on the group's collective input.
- Vote on recipes and generate a unified grocery list for the group.
- Calculate and coordinate bill splitting for grocery costs.
- Follow step-by-step cooking instructions during a cooking session.
- Track cooking history, earn achievements, and participate in competitive features (when available).
MealMob is currently in development. Features described in our marketing materials — including competition leaderboards and certain social features — may not yet be available and will be rolled out over time. We do not guarantee the availability of any specific feature at any given time.
3. Account Registration and Requirements
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use MealMob. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you may only use MealMob with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these age requirements.
Account creation
A registered account is required to use MealMob. When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration.
- Choose a username that is not offensive, misleading, or impersonates another person or entity.
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share your password with anyone.
- Notify us immediately at our contact form if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
- Maintain only one personal account (you may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or bans).
Account responsibility
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. MealMob is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account where you failed to take reasonable steps to secure your credentials.
4. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
You agree to use MealMob only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not:
Account and identity
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Create fake accounts, use bot accounts, or automate account creation.
- Buy, sell, or transfer your account to another person.
Content and behavior
- Post, upload, or share content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
- Harass, bully, or intimidate other users, including through group sessions, ratings, or competitive features.
- Provide false dietary restriction or preference information with the intent to harm a group member (e.g., claiming a false allergy to manipulate recipe selection).
- Use the Service to stalk, follow, or otherwise interfere with another user's ability to use the platform.
Technical misuse
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
- Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code into the Service.
- Use automated tools (scrapers, bots, spiders) to access or extract data from the Service without our prior written consent.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure, including servers and networks.
- Attempt to manipulate leaderboards, voting systems, or achievement scores through artificial means.
Legal violations
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
- Violate any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.
- Transmit unsolicited commercial messages or spam through the Service.
Violation of these conduct rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, at our discretion.
5. AI-Generated Content
MealMob uses artificial intelligence to generate recipe suggestions based on group input. You understand and agree that:
- Suggestions are not guarantees. AI-generated recipe suggestions are provided for convenience and inspiration only. They are not nutritional advice, medical advice, or professional culinary guidance.
- Dietary accuracy is your responsibility. While MealMob makes reasonable efforts to account for dietary restrictions and allergies, the AI may make errors. You are responsible for independently verifying that any recipe is safe and appropriate for all group members, particularly those with severe food allergies or medical dietary requirements.
- Allergy disclaimer. MealMob is not a medical service. People with severe food allergies should always independently verify ingredient lists and consult medical professionals as appropriate. Do not rely solely on MealMob's AI for allergy-critical decisions.
- AI output may be imperfect. AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or nonsensical. We do not warrant the accuracy, quality, or safety of any AI-generated recipe suggestion.
- No endorsement. Recipe suggestions do not constitute an endorsement of any specific ingredient brand, retailer, or food product.
Important: If any member of your group has a severe food allergy or a medically restricted diet, always have them review the final recipe and ingredient list personally before cooking. Do not rely solely on the app's dietary filter.
6. Group Sessions and Shared Data
MealMob is designed to share certain information within your group to enable coordination. By participating in a group session, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Your name and email address will be shared with other members of any group you create or join, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Your food cravings, votes, and preference data will be visible to other members of your group during and after a session.
- Your cooking history and ratings within a group may be visible to other group members.
- Group creators bear responsibility for the groups they create. Only invite people you trust and want to share information with.
If you receive an invitation to join a group, accepting the invitation constitutes consent to the data-sharing practices described above and in our Privacy Policy.
7. Bill Splitting Features
MealMob provides a convenience feature that calculates suggested cost splits among group members based on a receipt total entered by the user. You understand and agree that:
- MealMob is not a financial service or payment processor. We do not process payments, hold funds, or facilitate the actual transfer of money between users.
- Bill splits are estimates. The amounts calculated by MealMob are suggestions based on the information entered by users. MealMob is not responsible for errors in amounts entered or any resulting disputes between group members.
- Payment links are third-party services. Links to Venmo, PayPal, or other payment services are provided for convenience only. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. MealMob has no control over and bears no responsibility for transactions conducted through third-party payment services.
- Disputes between users are your responsibility. MealMob is not a party to any financial arrangement between group members and will not mediate payment disputes.
8. Competitions and Leaderboards
MealMob may offer competitive features including challenges, leaderboards, badges, achievements, and rewards. Where these features are available:
- Your username will be publicly visible on leaderboards accessible to all MealMob users. Your real name and email address will not be displayed.
- Competition integrity. You must not use bots, scripts, multiple accounts, or any other artificial means to inflate your scores, achievements, or leaderboard position. Violations will result in account suspension and removal from competitive rankings.
- Rewards. Any rewards, prizes, or benefits associated with competitive features will be described in the specific program rules at the time of each promotion. MealMob reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel any competition, reward program, or giveaway at any time with reasonable notice.
- VIP and early access giveaways. For promotional giveaways (including the lifetime VIP waitlist promotion), winners are selected at MealMob's sole discretion. Prizes are non-transferable and have no cash value unless explicitly stated. One entry per person.
- Achievement revocation. MealMob reserves the right to revoke achievements, badges, or competition rankings if they were obtained through violation of these Terms.
9. User-Generated Content
Content you submit to MealMob — including food cravings, recipe ratings, reviews, usernames, and any other contributions ("User Content") — is owned by you. By submitting User Content, you grant MealMob a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as necessary to operate and improve the Service.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the right to share any User Content you submit.
- Your User Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Your User Content is accurate and not misleading.
MealMob does not routinely monitor User Content but reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms or that we deem harmful to the platform or its users.
10. Intellectual Property
The MealMob platform — including its design, code, logos, brand elements, written content, AI systems, and all other materials created by or for MealMob — is owned by MealMob and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
- Use the MealMob name, logo, or brand assets for any purpose without our prior written consent.
- Create derivative works based on the Service or its content.
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose without a separate written agreement with MealMob.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, applications, and services (including Venmo, PayPal, and any calendar or social platforms). These links are provided for convenience only.
MealMob does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party service. Your use of third-party services is entirely at your own risk and subject to the terms and privacy policies of those services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party service you use.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MealMob expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any content on the Service, including AI-generated recipe suggestions.
- Warranties that the Service will meet your specific requirements.
MealMob does not warrant that any recipe suggestion is nutritionally complete, safe for individuals with specific health conditions, or suitable for any particular dietary need beyond what is explicitly and accurately indicated by users during setup. Always use common sense and consult a medical professional for dietary decisions related to health conditions or severe allergies.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MealMob and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service.
- Any content obtained through the Service, including AI-generated recipe suggestions.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
- Transactions or disputes between group members, including bill-splitting disagreements.
- Any adverse health outcome, food reaction, or allergic response resulting from food prepared in connection with using the Service.
- Any third-party services accessed through links or integrations in the Service.
In no event shall MealMob's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid MealMob in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars (US $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of certain warranties or exclusion of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MealMob and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your use of or access to the Service.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or property rights.
- Any User Content you submit to the Service.
- Any dispute between you and another user of the Service.
15. Termination
Termination by you
You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature in your settings or by contacting us at our contact form. Termination does not entitle you to any refund of amounts paid for any subscription or paid feature.
Termination by MealMob
MealMob reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if continued access poses a risk to other users or the platform. We will generally try to notify you of the reason for termination unless doing so would compromise security or is prohibited by law.
Effect of termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — will continue to apply.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to first contact us at our contact form and give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally.
If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration conducted by a mutually agreed arbitration service, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for claims involving intellectual property infringement or unauthorized use of the Service.
You agree to resolve disputes with MealMob individually. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against MealMob.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify registered users via email at least 14 days before the new terms take effect.
- In some cases, ask for your renewed acceptance if the changes are significant.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
